The staircase is often an eye-catcher in the house and can be quite distracting . Your entire house exudes the right atmosphere, but that staircase… needs some help . Remove that thorn from your eye and give your stairs a makeover in any desired LAB COLOUR or LAB Own colour choice , with a durable and wear-resistant result. Simple steps for a great result. HOW TO USE LAB TRAPCOATING: HANDY STEP-BY-STEP PLAN

With the LAB Stair Coating packages you can restyle and transform your stairs yourself . This will give your entire house a style upgrade . Follow the simple step-by-step plan for an optimal , durable, wear-resistant and colorful result :  

1. Make the stairs dust-free. 
2. Degrease the stairs with LAB Paint Cleaner . Mix 10 parts lukewarm water with 1 part paint cleaner. Apply this with a Cleaning Sponge premium (use the green side). The cleaner is very concentrated. Wear gloves and be careful not to spill anything on walls, objects or floors that you are not going to treat. 
3. After 1 hour, remove any remaining paint cleaner with clean water. 
4. Are the stairs dry? Now sand the stairs with the Orange scouring sponge coarse no. 1 , Yellow scouring sponge medium no. 2 , Green scouring sponge fine no. 3 or Blue scouring sponge ultra fine no. 4. Choose the right sponge depending on the condition of the stairs. 
5. Remove dust from the stairs with a slightly damp cloth. 
6. Fill damage with Presto quick-drying filler 2K . 
7. Seal the seams where necessary with Den Braven Hybriseal sealant . Use a colour that most closely matches the colour of the paint. 
8. Neatly tape off the parts that are not to be painted straight with LAB Tape Purple for sensitive surfaces. 
9. Apply 1 coat of LAB Wood Primer Indoor. 
10. Check the stairs for any irregularities or imperfections (fluff from a roller, hairs from a brush, differences in layer thickness) and sand these away with the Sanding sponge green fine no. 3 , depending on the surface. If there are no irregularities, you do not need to sand the stairs. 
11. Apply the first layer of LAB Floor Coating. Mix the coating mechanically (i.e. with a paint mixer and cordless drill). Mix the A-component (large can) and the B-component (small can) thoroughly together in the A-component can. Then pour the mixed coating into an empty can and mix well again. Never mix more than you use in 1 layer. After mixing, you have approximately 1 hour to process the mixed coating. 
12. Our advice is to wait 6 hours. If the room is 18-21 degrees and the stairs are dry and walkable after 4 hours, you can apply the next layer. 
13. Check the stairs for any irregularities or imperfections (fluff from a roller, hairs from a brush, differences in layer thickness) and sand these away with the Blue Ultra Fine Sanding Sponge no. 4. If there are no irregularities, you do not need to sand the stairs. 
14. Apply the second layer of Step 3 LAB Floor Coating. Mix and apply in the same way as the first layer of LAB Floor Coating. 
15. Check if the coverage is good and apply a third layer if necessary. With grey colours the coverage is generally always good after 2 layers of coating. White colours cover less well. 
16. Our advice is to wait 6 hours. If the room is 18-21 degrees and the stairs are dry and walkable after 4 hours, you can apply the next layer. 
17. DO NOT SAND! 
18. Apply 1 time a transparent wear layer for extra wear resistance with LAB Floor Coating Wear Resistant. Mix this in the indicated way. 
19. Wait 4 hours. 
20. Carefully remove the LAB Tape Purple . If you pull the coating locally with the tape, carefully cut the connection between the tape and the stairs with a sharp Stanley knife. 

NB! 

• The coating takes 1 week to harden. During this week, wear socks. You can walk on the stairs again 4 hours after the last layer has been applied. 
• Keep windows and doors closed while applying the coating. Make sure it is not too warm during coating (not warmer than 19 degrees), because then the coating dries too quickly. 
• White colours cover considerably less well than grey tones. Depending on the applied layer thickness and colour of the laminate/wood, you should apply 3-4 layers for an evenly covering result. Grey tones are generally fully covering in 2 layers.
