A LOOK INSIDE ROMÉ REINDERS: COCOON OF EARTH TONES
Influencer Romé Reinders (33) recently moved from a dark penthouse with black and gold to a light new-build house full of natural tones. Spaciousness and peace is what Romé and her boyfriend Daniël (32) were looking for with daughter Belle Rose (3). The creative entrepreneur calls herself a jack-of-all-trades, 'but I would prefer to be a full-time mother,' she says with conviction with her second daughter on the way, while she shows LAB around her new nest.
MORE BEAUTIFUL IN REAL
Romé Reinders became known as the owner of clothing store The Golden Store in Beverwijk. There she sells the Reinders brand, owned by her twin sisters Julie and Marie. By vlogging, she grew into an influencer. Normally, Romé only takes people through her house via Instagram and YouTube. LAB was lucky enough to be allowed to look around in real life. And – sorry followers – in real life, everything is even more beautiful than on screen. No pretense with Romé. Just the depth and warmth of the hues on the walls. Romé made the color choices together with LAB. She also designed the interior herself. 'With the help of my mother,' she quickly adds. 'My mother is extremely creative and has very good taste, she also has a beautiful house herself.'
BUSINESS WOMAN WITHOUT AGENDA
It is hard to believe when Romé lets slip that her interior was created entirely in her head, without a sketch or anything. 'When I see something beautiful, I just know whether it fits in my house or not. I had already ordered all the furniture before the house was finished, without drawing anything first, I didn't even have mood boards. Everything I bought eventually came together here and it turned out exactly as I had imagined it. It may sound crazy for someone with her own business, but I don't live with an agenda, I'm not particularly punctual or organized and I'm not a strict planner. But I am a perfectionist in what I want.'
WHERE ARE THE LAMPS?
What's strange: when you look around Romé's stylish house, you quickly get the feeling that something is missing. You just don't know what. Until you realize that there is no lamp to be seen anywhere. When Romé turns on the lighting with a smile, a soft glow appears from behind it all, as if by magic. Under the edges of the lowered ceiling, behind the wall panel against which the TV is mounted and even under the edge of the counter and all the handles in the kitchen. 'It's really cool in the evening', Romé beams, 'then it's extra atmospheric'. She had seen the lowered ceiling with the hidden LED lighting at her sisters' house. Romé came up with the idea of using the indirect light in other places as well. Because the house was newly built, Romé and Daniël were able to determine the layout themselves. For example, they gave up a piece of garden for an extension, and a sitting area for a cooking area.
Romé: 'In our previous house we had a huge sitting area and a small kitchen, here we wanted it exactly the other way around. I am someone who likes to invite everyone and makes sure the table is full of food. For example, we have breakfast every Sunday morning with Daniël's family, we both have a large, close-knit family. It is also not without reason that I wrote the cookbook Cooking for the Whole Street . My way of adding extra color to life is by being caring, cheerful, positive and never grumpy.' She adds with a laugh: ' If I am grumpy, it is because there is something wrong with the food.'
And back to the kitchen: 'The great thing is that it has so much storage space that we don't need any more cabinets. For example, the Belle Rose toys go in the large drawers of the cooking island on the side of the room, ideal. Because of the colour Coffee Addict no. 214 , the kitchen also looks much less like a kitchen than if the fronts were white, for example. And I really wanted a large mirror behind the counter, I'm so happy with that. You don't normally see something like that in a kitchen, but it works very spaciously. And because you look outside through the mirror, it creates the effect of a window.'

WARM AND EARTHLY TYPE
Romé also shows the upper floor with pleasure. There, Romé and Daniël's bedroom is a comfortable cocoon of earth tones. Partly due to the colour Golden Leaf no. 752 on the walls and ceiling. The lighting is again partly hidden, now behind large mirrors. Speaking of mirrors: the question arises to what extent the modest and calm interior reflects the character of the lively and energetic Romé. 'Well, maybe it shows one side of me,' she answers. 'For example, I can be very different in clothing. Tough, but also prissy or chic. Modest, but also colourful. Yesterday I was wearing a dress with red roses on it.'
'But for the interior of this house I had three keywords: timeless, spacious, calm. We wanted calmness as soon as we got home. As a colour type, you can best describe me as someone who likes earth tones and warm colours, that's the overlap between my house and my wardrobe, I think. In the house I also want a lot of green in the form of large plants, such as the super beautiful banana plant by the dining table. Because green also provides peace.' Incidentally, the house is also green in the sense of being energy neutral. Not entirely surprising with Daniël as the founder of the company duurzaamautoladen.nl.
PINK AND ROSES
As we walk from the master bedroom to Belle Rose's room, Romé points to the stair gate. 'We had it custom-made by the company that also welded the banisters and the steel door downstairs. The gate is attached to the banister and is hardly noticeable because it is largely made of safety glass. The fact that it did not have to be such an unsightly standard gate, those are details that make me happy. In Belle Rose's room I chose a theme, as I always like to do with decorating. In her case I didn't have to think long: pink and roses, that was it.'
'She's also a real girly girl. Every morning she stands in front of her clothes rack to see which dress she's going to wear today. You know, the most important thing I do is being a mother. That's what I like the most. If someone offers to take over my shop on the spot, I'll say yes, that's fine . Not that I don't like my job, but if I could choose, I'd like to be a full-time stay-at-home mom and make a second cookbook. I would continue with Instagram and vlogging, because I can do that here. I started doing it to advertise my shop, but now the vlogs are mainly about my life and my house. The videos about my pregnancy, for example, are very valuable, I notice. Both for myself and for my followers. But the ones about my house are also very satisfying, because my followers find them inspiring and get ideas from them. And the house isn't finished yet. As for making it cozy, I still have some plans and ideas to show.'
