How do you apply lime paint? (5 steps)
You see it more and more and that makes us very happy: lime paint. Within no time you can transform a room with LAB Chalk (lime paint) into an attractive whole with a unique look. And the great thing: lime paint is one hundred percent natural and super durable.
Normal wall paint too boring? With lime paint you make a wall just that little bit more special because of the color shades you apply during painting. Because everyone applies lime paint in a different way, you give a room your own signature and the result is always unique. Are you going to work with this product for the first time? We explain step by step how it works.

A unique look
Extra nice about lime paint is that you can really give it your own, unique twist. The paint can be applied in several ways: cloudy, randomly (crisscross) or streaky. For a cloudy effect, paint the wall in circular motions with a block brush, sponge or cloth. Prefer wild bondage? Then apply the lime paint criss-cross with a block brush. If you want a streaky effect as the end result, you can also use a block brush. In this case, apply the lime paint irregularly in a vertical direction from ceiling to skirting board.

What do you need?
The LAB Chalk system consists of three products: LAB Chalk primer, LAB Chalk and LAB Chalk Sealer Transparent. The sealer is optional and you do not have to use it. It does offer an extra protective layer for intensively used walls. For example, think of the kitchen or staircase. Do you want to have all the right processing materials at home right away? Then the LAB Chalk processing package is an ideal solution.

How do you apply lime paint? (5 steps)
Working with LAB Chalk (lime paint) is not difficult, but it does require some attention. Are you sure it's going well? Then make a test on the wall first. If you are still unsure about the effect, you can immediately test several ways and see which one you like best. Do you already know what effect you want? Then make sure you work consistently and don't change the position of the brush during application. Because everyone works in a different way, we recommend painting a wall on your own.
Step 1 | Check your surface. Do you have a powdery surface such as new stucco or a highly absorbent surface? Then pre-treat it with LAB Wallfix (primer) in the right colour. If the surface is already good, you can skip this step.
Step 2 | Apply one coat of LAB Chalk Primer with a wall paint roller and flat brush. This stabilizes the surface. This step is necessary to obtain a good adhesion with the lime paint and can therefore not be skipped. The primer can be painted over after twelve hours.
Step 3 | When the primer has completely dried (twelve hours after application), you can apply the first layer of lime paint. We recommend diluting the first layer with ten percent water.
Step 4 | Eight hours after the first layer of lime paint you can apply the second layer of lime paint. This time dilute the paint with ten to thirty percent water and proceed in the same way as with the first layer. The more water you add, the more nuances you will eventually see. Note: the longer you wait with the second coat, the fewer color shades you will get. Ideally, apply the second layer immediately eight hours after the first layer.
Step 5 | You can apply LAB Chalk Sealer Transparent six days after painting. This step is not necessary, but gives an extra finishing and protective layer. Judge for yourself whether you think this is necessary.

Note: the lighter the color, the less visible the effect. Because lime paint is a natural product, there may be a small color difference in each can. So start with a new can on each wall or mix two cans together before painting.
Super mooi effect! Ik ga het ook proberen!
