DESCRIPTION
A-4 steel LAB Rubigo (rust paint)
LAB Rubigo is real rust paint. For a decorative finish and a special weathered effect. Easy to apply.
The LAB Rubigo system consists of 3 different products, namely:
1. LAB Rubigo Primer
2. LAB Rubigo Activator
3. LAB Rubigo Sealer
LAB Rubigo Primer contains a lot of metal. The liquid in the activator causes the metal particles of the primer to rust and LAB Rubigo Sealer prevents the rust from releasing.
Application
The LAB Rubigo system can be applied to stone, stone-like materials, cement, plasterboard, plasterwork, (non-woven) wallpaper, painted walls and wood-like (board) materials. Stir well before use. The surface must be dry, clean, free of grease and load-bearing. Pre-treat powdery (such as new plasterwork) and highly absorbent surfaces with LAB Wallfix Opaque in the correct colour (LAB COLOUR advice: Silent Cinnamon no. 25 ).
Instruction
. Apply LAB Rubigo Primer with a brush or roller . Apply 1-2 coats. The primer contains many metal particles and is therefore heavy. Apply the primer with a full, covering coat. Dust dry after approx. 1 hour. Can be painted over after approx. 4 hours. Consumption approx. 5 m² per litre.
2. After drying, LAB Rubigo Activator be applied with a brush , roller , sponge or (plastic) spray , depending on the desired end result. When using a spray, be careful of the mist. This should not come onto the floor or other walls. Gloves are required and the floor must be covered well. The acid in the activator ensures that the metal oxidises quickly. You can play with the paint by creating more or less effect. We advise making a test setting in advance for the desired effect (for example vertical stripes, circles or criss-cross). Please note! The degree of rust depends on the amount of activator applied. The rust will slowly emerge. The full result is visible after approx. 10 hours. Dust-dry after approx. 0.5-1 hour. Can be painted over after approx. 8 hours. If the desired end result has not yet been achieved, repetition, possibly locally, is possible. Consumption approx. 10-20 m² per litre. This is highly dependent on the application method and the desired end result.
Just like real rust, LAB Rubigo gives off something. If this is not desirable, step 3 can be applied.
3. To prevent LAB from releasing Rubigo, it is used as a top coat LAB Rubigo Sealer applied. This is a transparent, water-based and solvent-free coating. Apply undiluted with a brush and/or (coating) roller in vertical strokes. The surface must be dry, free of wax, grease and dust. Ensure that windows and doors are closed, work continuously and wet on wet to prevent the formation of stripes. Dust dry after approx. 0.5-1 hour. Can be painted over after approx. 1-2 hours. Apply 1 to 2 coats. Consumption approx. 10-16 m² per litre. This strongly depends on the suction of the substrate.
