COPY PASTE: EVERYTHING ABOUT THE COLOURS FROM MANDY WOELKENS' HOME

As a big fan of colour, putting together the colour palette for Mandy's home was a party. Both for herself and for colour expert Barbara from LAB. The only condition Mandy had was that something pink had to happen. "Because pink is always a good idea." Spoiler alert: she succeeded. Read on and discover all about the cheerful colour palette with LAB COLOURS in her home.

COLORFUL CARTE FOR BARBARA

“I went into the consultation very openly,” says Mandy. “I had only chosen a sample of Orange Barista no. 117 beforehand , because I thought it was really cool. And I knew for sure that I wanted something pink. I do like a bit of colour blocking .” LAB colour expert Barbara also got completely carte blanche. Or better said: carte colourful . Mandy: The palette had to be an extension of my personality, so to speak . Distinctive, but at the same time warm and cosy. In addition to Orange Barista no. 117, we ended up with Oh My Gosh no. 779 and Masala Chai no. 31 . Each of these colours is striking, but together they form a very nice balance .”

A SURPRISING ELEMENT

In addition to the basic palette, Mandy wanted to add a few surprising elements that would really stand out. “Because I already had a lot of orange, Barbara advised me to stick to the same shade and use it on one wall. That’s how we ended up with The Duchess no. 100 for the freestanding wall in the living room. This orange has the same base as Orange Barista no. 117 and Masala Chai no. 31 , but is a lot more intense.”

FROM CEILING TO SKIRTING

In Mandy's house, ceilings, window frames, doors and skirting boards are also painted. This makes the colours blend in even better and creates more unity. "Especially when you use bold colours like in my interior, the whole thing becomes less intense when you paint all the parts , " says Mandy. To create this effect, it is important that you use the same colour everywhere or choose a lighter shade with the same base tone. "We did the latter with the ceiling in the living room ," Barbara adds. Before this there was Orange Barista a little too dark , but the lighter version Masala Chai  was perfect.”

PASTEL PARTY IN THE HALL

A twist of pink could not be missed in the hall either . Mandy: “Because pink tones have been used both downstairs and upstairs , the pink staircase connects the two floors with each other. Here too, it blends in beautifully with the neutral, creamy Masala Chai no . 31 and soft Pastel Paradise no. 210 on the doors . The same pastel shade also returns in the wallpaper on the ceiling in the kitchen.” In this sweet space the choice for a dark green cabinet in the hall seems it may be surprising , but that is also the case thought. “ During the renovation we found a piece of stained glass in the container, ready to be thrown away. What a waste! We had it fixed in the new wall between the hall and the living room, above the door. The classic green glass matched nicely with Forest Green no. 277. And the tiles in the kitchen have the same petrol -like color. In every room you will find something of the color palette.

USE THE EFFECTS OF COLORS

Barbara: “When selecting colours, it is also important to think about what you want to do with a space . Colours can affect your mood and even your sleep. For example , blue is known to have a calming and soothing effect. That is why we chose the attic, which serves as a work- and guest room, Frozen Cocktail no. 27 . This light, cool shade creates a very relaxed atmosphere, but keeps you fresh.”
