THE TREND COLOR BEIGE IS HERE TO LAST: THESE ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHADES OF BEIGE AND HOW TO APPLY THEM

From fashion to interiors: beige is everywhere and here to stay . The warm color emerged a few years ago as a replacement for the cooler gray and the standard white and it doesn't look like it will be giving up its place as the most popular paint shade anytime soon. Beige comes in all kinds of shades, from soft gray to creamy warm, and therefore suits every style and taste. We put the stylish color in the spotlight and show you how to combine beige or make it just that little bit more exciting.

WHAT COLOR IS BEIGE?

Beige is a light brown colour that is created by mixing the primary colours red, blue and yellow, supplemented with white. It is also called sand colour. Beige is a warm shade that appears even warmer by adding yellow or red pigments or greyer by a green undertone. One beige is not the same as the other and that makes the colour so widely applicable. Beige is subtle, natural, refined, friendly, calm and easy to combine with other shades. With bright colours it creates connection and therefore never lets you fly off the rails. Another big plus of beige? You can apply it in different living styles: from the calm Japandi to classic and hotel chic. And vintage lovers also find it a nice basic colour.

BEIGE BORING? NO WAY!

In addition to the many fans, there are also people who find beige a boring and safe choice. Of course, you can also go a bit too far in your love for the warm, natural color. However, a large dose of beige in the house does not have to be soporific. Try this:

  • We've said it before: not all beiges are the same. Go for tone-on-tone or a mix of materials to create more depth and tension in the beige interior. Choose different shades with the same undertone. On the LAB Colourcard you can see at a glance which colours combine well with each other: look at the colours in the same column as your favourite beige shade. It's that simple.
  • Do you always tend to go for that one beige? Then you could also combine different types of wall paint in the same colour - or just a little bit different - with each other. The looks of lime paint are just a little bit different from those of regular wall paint and that ensures coherence, but also variety. At LAB, all colours in lime paint can be mixed, but keep in mind that lime paint colours always come out one or two shades lighter. And what do you think of wallpaper with a beige base ?
  • With beige you can really go in all directions and it is the perfect starting point for the rest of your interior. The basic colour can be combined with almost any colour, even with bright and more striking colours. Beige always restores the balance, much more than the colder white does. White provides much harder contrasts. So beige is not boring, but ideal!

COMBINING BEIGE WITH OTHER COLORS

The most popular color combinations with beige are white - think of the calm basic, Scandinavian and Japandi interiors - and black. Especially beige walls combined with dark frames and doors are favorites with lovers of a classic and hotel chic living taste.

Are you looking for more colour with the beige shade? Then take a good look at the undertone of the beige. A warm beige such as LAB COLOUR Mushroom no. 287 combines beautifully with taupe and dark brown. If you opt for a warmer shade such as the beige Petit Macaron no. 916 , then Terracotta Warrior no. 42 provides the necessary pop of colour . With the yellowed beige Strong Garlic no. 92, peach and pink shades such as Terra Pink no. 102 combine beautifully. And completely in love with Cotton Cloud no. 223 ? Then Limited Jade no. 479 provides a nice breeze through your home. On the back of the LAB colour samples we tip the most beautiful colour combinations.
