Isa Hoes loves interior design and styling. She likes to take matters into her own hands and is certainly not afraid of colour. Daughter Vlinder thought it could be a bit less and so they went for white, contrary to Isa. Of course, they both quickly got tired of that, so they tackled it completely differently. 1. ASK FOR PROFESSIONAL COLOR ADVICE

'I was used to making all the decisions about my house myself. Asking for professional advice was not for me. I just couldn't decide on the colours for the walls. So I got colour advice anyway. It was the best move I could have made. I would never have come up with the suggested palette myself, but it turned out to be spot on.'

2. COMBINE COLOR AND BASIC

'My lovely kitchen was designed by Eginstill as the eye-catcher of the open living floor. The base cabinets are pink, the veined top of natural stone has green tones. It was an eye-opener that I should not look for the wall color in the kitchen itself. Although I had to see it to believe that Amaze no. 535 , a shade that seemed a bit boring to me in advance, would be perfect.'

3. ART IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

'Art and flowers are two things that I like to add extra colour to my home with. The great thing is that you can always alternate. That's why I also go to the Beeldend Gesproken art library, so that I can regularly hang up different works of art.'

4. GO FOR SUSTAINABLE

'Sustainability is definitely important to me. It was a reason to downsize, and also to choose a water-based paint, which is made here in the Netherlands. By choosing LAB paint, I also support their drinking water project in Bangladesh. A real added value for me.'
